Johor Darul Ta’Zim crowned champions 9th title after opening home beating Negeri Sembilan FC with a score of 5-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
In the match against Negeri Sembilan FC, JDT squad started their winning streak with a goal in the 35th minute when Arif Aiman Hanapi cleverly infiltrated the penalty box before shooting Leandro Velazquez’s ball into the right corner to beat Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed.
Two minutes later, Negeri Sembilan was stunned by JDT’s second goal after Velazquez, who took a free kick from 25 meters away, curled a direct kick into the right corner to beat Ahmad Syihan.
Entering the second half, due to a mistake by the visiting player, Nasrullah Haniff Johan who tried to pass the ball to Zulkhairi Zulkefly in the 49th minute saw Ariff Aiman quickly grab the ball and easily push it in when only facing Ahmad Syihan.
JDT continued to add to the suffering of the Negeri Sembilan FC when their goal was torn apart again by the attacking line of the Harimau Selatan squad in the 61st minute after Arif Aiman cleverly tricked Khair Jones before pushing the ball back for Bergson da Silva who was not controlled to shoot the ball past Syihan Hazmi.
It turned out that JDT refused to give a face to Negeri Sembilan when they went on to add a fifth goal in the 88th minute through Bergson who finished off substitute Mohamadou Sumareh’s pass.
Confirmation of the championship belongs to JDT after Terengganu FC managed to defeat the nearest challenger, Sabah FC 2-0 in action at the Sultan Mizan Stadium, Gong Badak.
All remaining 4 matches are important for JDT to defend their unbeaten record this season.
