Johor Darul Ta’Zim makes a history as third-time unbeaten champion after beating Sabah FC with a score of 3-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
Without fielding Fernando Forestieri who is still plagued by injury, JDT manager Hector Bidoglio put his trust in Syafiq Ahmad to line up in the starting line-up after his excellent performance by scoring two goals when beating Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) 4-1 last Tuesday.
JDT did not wait long to open the scoring curtain in the 16th minute due to the movement of Arif Aiman Hanapi in the right wing position who made a cross pass to Bergson Da Silva who shot the ball right into the left corner of the goal net beating the goalkeeper, Khairul Fahmi Che Mat .
Bergson almost scored the second goal in the 30th minute after receiving a pass from Nazmi Faiz Mansor, but this season’s league scorer’s fast shot was deflected off Khairul Fahmi, which caused him to suffer an injury and had to be replaced by Damien Lim.
The hosts added to the suffering of the Badak squad in the 38th minute after Arif Aiman who took a free kick from 25 meters away shot straight into the left corner of the goal net beating Damien to put JDT comfortably ahead 2-0.
Entering the second half, JDT continued to dominate the game when it often launched moves to Sabah FC’s fortress, which had to struggle hard to block the continuous attacks of Hector Bidoglio’s protégés.
Bergson continued to terrorize the match as he scored his second personal goal and his 28th in the league after Dominic Tan’s defensive error failed to clear the ball from the danger area and the Brazilian import produced an acrobatic kick to beat Damien.
The success repeated the third time of JDT with an unbeaten record after the 2016 and 2020 seasons.
