National men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia is set for his competitive return at the Badminton World Championships 2025 in Paris next week, marking his first appearance since taking an extended break in March.
In a statement shared via his official Team Lee Zii Jia (LZJ) social media account, the former All England champion admitted he is focused more on rediscovering his rhythm rather than burdening himself with high expectations.
“It has been quite a while, and the World Championships will be my first tournament after a long break,” Zii Jia said. “I’m not putting too much pressure on myself. I just want to enjoy being back on court, and most importantly, finish the campaign in Paris without any injuries.”
The prestigious tournament will take place at Adidas Arena, Paris, starting Monday. Zii Jia, currently ranked World No. 52, will open his campaign against South Korea’s Jeon Hyuk-jin, ranked 38th.
Despite his current position, the Alor Setar-born shuttler enjoys a protected ranking at World No. 9, allowing him entry into elite tournaments.
Zii Jia’s last competitive outings were at the Orleans Masters and the All England Open in March. However, a series of injuries forced him to withdraw from several major events, including the Malaysia Open, Japan Open, and China Open.
