Thai teenager Kiatsak “Maikyu” Singhapong is set to achieve a major career milestone after Honda Team Asia confirmed he will make his Moto3 World Championship debut at this weekend’s British GP at Silverstone.
The 2026 MotoGP season resumes after a month-long summer break with Round 12, the British Grand Prix, taking place from August 7–9 at the iconic Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom.
For Thai motorsport fans, however, the spotlight will shine firmly on the 18-year-old prospect, who has been handed a golden opportunity to compete in the Moto3 World Championship for the first time in his career.
Honda Team Asia officially announced that Kiatsak will replace Japanese rider Zen Mitani for the Silverstone round, giving the Thai youngster his first taste of Grand Prix racing at one of the world’s most legendary circuits.
The call-up comes after an impressive campaign across two of the world’s premier junior championships.
Kiatsak has consistently impressed in both the 2026 FIM JuniorGP Moto3 World Championship and the 2026 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, securing two podium finishes while regularly scoring championship points.
His strong performances, rapid development, and professional approach have convinced Honda Team Asia that he is ready to take the next step onto the Moto3 World Championship stage.
The Silverstone outing represents far more than a one-off appearance.
Moto3 is widely regarded as the gateway to Grand Prix racing, featuring more than 30 of the world’s most talented young riders competing for a pathway toward Moto2 and eventually MotoGP.
A strong performance this weekend could significantly strengthen Kiatsak’s prospects of earning a full-time Moto3 World Championship seat in the future.
The British Grand Prix therefore offers the Thai teenager a priceless opportunity to prove he can adapt to the intensity and competitiveness of world championship racing.
While Kiatsak prepares for his Moto3 debut, Honda’s premier-class riders are equally eager to return to action following the summer break.
Factory Honda HRC duo Joan Mir and Luca Marini arrive at Silverstone determined to build momentum during the second half of the MotoGP campaign.
Meanwhile, Diogo Moreira will continue representing LCR Honda, while experienced British rider Cal Crutchlow is set to make another appearance for the satellite Honda squad in front of his home fans.
The British Grand Prix weekend begins with official practice on Friday, August 7, before qualifying takes place on Saturday, August 8, and race day on Sunday, August 9
