Kedah Darul Aman FC is determined to persevere in the Liga Super Malaysia this season despite facing financial challenges.
Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar, owner of KDA FC acknowledged the significant pressures the team is under, including a reduced budget compared to last season, but emphasized the team’s resilience in overcoming these obstacles with the support and prayers of their fans and the people of Kedah.
Mohd Daud highlighted that the Kenari squad started the season under challenging circumstances, with their budget slashed by almost 40% from the previous year. However, he expressed gratitude that the team was still able to compete and remain in the league.
“For me, let the Canary be able to continue to be in the arena of matches and matches rather than being knocked out of the arena. Now that we are in the arena this season, we are also struggling with our full shortcomings and weaknesses,” Mohd Daud remarked.
He stressed that the team has no choice but to continue with the resources and guidance available to them, despite the limitations. He encouraged the supporters to continue standing by the team, recognizing that the journey may be difficult, but with hope and perseverance, they will overcome the challenges.
Reflecting on recent setbacks, Mohd Daud expressed disappointment over the team’s two consecutive defeats against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the FA Cup and Super League. He acknowledged the pain and sadness felt by everyone involved with the team, from the players and coaches to the fans and supporters.
“If we may, we really don’t want to bear the burden of this defeat and it just so happens that we are destined to meet JDT troops in three of the last four matches in just a few weeks,” he said. Despite the challenges, Mohd Daud praised the players for giving their best on the pitch, even under immense pressure off the field.
