Johor Darul Ta’zim, Malaysia’s most prominent football club, has achieved a significant milestone by being ranked 279th in the world, 8th in Asia, and 1st in Southeast Asia, according to the Opta Power Ranking released on 28 August 2024.
The football analysis platform ranks nearly 13,500 clubs globally, highlighting JDT’s impressive standing in the international football landscape. No other Malaysian teams were ranked in the top 1000 worldwide, underscoring JDT’s dominance in the country.
In Asia, the top-ranked teams include Saudi Arabian powerhouses Al Hilal and Al Nassr, who hold the 1st and 2nd spots, respectively. Japanese clubs Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Vissel Kobe are ranked 3rd and 4th, while Ulsan Hyundai FC from South Korea, the current club of former Malaysia national team coach Kim Pan-Gon, rounds out the top five in Asia.
