Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will refer the matter involving national head coach Peter Cklamovski’s viral statement to the Disciplinary Board, said Acting President Datuk Wira Yusoff Mahadi.
The move follows remarks made by the Australian-born Harimau Malaya head coach, which were perceived by some fans as a public criticism of FAM’s administration amid ongoing FIFA-related issues.
Cklamovski sparked debate after stating following Malaysia’s 3-0 win over Laos on October 9:
“All the chaos happening with FIFA — the administrative mistakes or whatever is going on — that’s FAM’s matter, not Tunku Ismail’s.”
His comment drew mixed reactions from local supporters, with some perceiving it as disrespectful towards FAM, his employer.
However, Cklamovski later issued an apology during a pre-match press conference on Monday, clarifying that his statement was never intended as criticism towards the national football governing body.
Datuk Wira Yusoff Mahadi acknowledged the coach’s apology but emphasized that organizational procedures must still be observed.
“I can accept his apology personally, but as an organization, we have regulations that must be followed and respected,” Yusoff told Astro Arena journalist Fadhirul Shuhaimi.
“Therefore, I am referring the matter to our Disciplinary Board to decide if any action needs to be taken regarding his statement,” he added.
The Disciplinary Board will review the incident in accordance with FAM’s Code of Conduct, determining whether further clarification or sanctions are necessary.
