The Disciplinary Committee of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has announced its verdict regarding the altercation during the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 match between Perak FC and Johor Darul Ta’zim at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, on 10 November 2024.
Two players, Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi of JDT and Tommy Mawat Bada of Perak FC, have been penalized for violating Article 59 of the FAM Disciplinary Code, which pertains to offensive behavior and fair play.
Arif Aiman (JDT)
• Offense: Arif was found guilty of punching Tommy Mawat Bada on the left side of his face during the heated exchange.
• Punishment: A three-match suspension, covering first and second matches of the Unifi Malaysia Cup Round of 16 against Kuala Lumpur Rovers FC on 20 and 30 November 2024, and Liga Super Malaysia match against Kuala Lumpur City FC on 8 December 2024.
In addition to the suspension, Arif has received a stern warning. The committee emphasized that any repeat offense would result in stricter consequences. This decision is open to appeal.
Tommy Mawat (Perak FC)
• Offense: Tommy was penalized for headbutting Arif and subsequently grabbing his neck during the incident.
• Punishment: A three-match suspension, covering first and second matches of the Unifi Malaysia Cup Round of 16 against Kelantan Darul Naim FC on 22 and 30 November 2024, and Liga Super Malaysia match against Kedah Darul Aman FC on 4 December 2024.
Tommy also received a stern warning with the same caveat of heavier punishment for future offenses. This decision is similarly subject to appeal.
The FAM Disciplinary Committee’s swift action underscores its commitment to upholding fair play and maintaining discipline on the field. Both players have been held accountable for their actions, sending a clear message that unsporting behavior will not be tolerated.
