Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, Selangor FC Board member however, explained that the decision on whether the player can be released from the hospital would only be made by the doctor.
He said, Faisal has shown very positive developments over time as a result of the support and prayers of the Malaysian people as well as the treatment procedures carried out.
“For almost three weeks (Faisal was in hospital), four surgical procedures were carried out, and if the impact came back, the first and second operations were to clean the acid. The third surgery was a skin allograft, and the fourth procedure involved skin grafting.” Datuk Shahril said at a media conference here today.
“Thank God, the procedure went smoothly and this is Faisal’s blessing too. After this the expert doctor will monitor Faisal, I was not mistaken, tomorrow the doctor will carry out monitoring for Faisal and from there we will know when Faisal will be released from the hospital.”
“But I believe that in a few days Faisal will come out. I met Faisal earlier, it seems that his development is very positive,”
Meanwhile, Shahril announced that Faisal will most likely need another three to six months to return to action on the field.
“After this, the Selangor FC medical team led by Dr Muhammad Hazwan Khair will work closely with the hospital and ISN (National Sports Institute) for Faisal’s recovery program.
“I understand that it is likely three to six months (for Faisal to return to action). This is what the doctor said to me, hope it will be fast and good, that is my prayer,”
The unfortunate fate that befell the national player saw him forced to take a long break and miss the remaining two qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers with Malaysia, next month.
