Malaysia’s top mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei underlined their status as the nation’s number one combination after a commanding victory over professional duo Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie to book their spot in the Denmark Open 2025 semi-finals.
In the all-Malaysian quarter-final clash held at the Jyske Bank Arena, the reigning world champions displayed their class and composure to secure a straight-game win, 21-17, 21-11, in just 38 minutes.
Chen-Toh started the match with solid defensive organization and aggressive net play, keeping Goh-Lai under pressure throughout. Their precise shot placement and sharp anticipation proved decisive, particularly in the second game, where they dominated the exchanges to close out the match comfortably.
The victory not only sends Chen-Toh into the final four but also extends their head-to-head record against Goh-Lai to 5-3, including four consecutive wins in their recent meetings.
Guided by coach Nova Widianto, Chen-Toh have been in scintillating form this season and now face a stern test in the semi-final. They are set to take on either world number one pair Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin of China or the home favourites Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje of Denmark for a place in the final on Saturday.
