Malaysia’s men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun saw their dream of a semi-final berth at the 2025 BWF World Championships come to an end after a gallant fightback against world No. 1 Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae of Korea Republic.
In a pulsating quarter-final clash at the Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle, Paris, on Friday (Aug 29), Wei Chong–Kai Wun went toe-to-toe with the top seeds before narrowly falling 21-23, 23-21, 15-21 in a grueling 68-minute battle.
The Malaysian pair, ranked world No. 7, showed resilience and courage, pushing the dominant Koreans — widely regarded as the best men’s doubles duo in the world this season — to their limits.
Although the defeat ended their campaign, the 24-year-old Wei Chong and 25-year-old Kai Wun can take pride in their breakthrough performance, as this marks their first-ever appearance in the last eight of the World Championships.
