Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has made its intentions clear — they are going all out for gold at the 2025 SEA Games, scheduled from December 9 to 20, by naming an all-star lineup filled with world-class talent and emerging stars.
In a statement released today, BAM confirmed that world mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei will headline Malaysia’s campaign, anchoring the mixed doubles department alongside the world No. 19 duo Hoo Pang Ron–Cheng Su Yin.
The men’s doubles division will see Malaysia’s top-ranked pairs in action, led by 2022 World Champions Aaron Chia–Soh Wooi Yik and the world No. 8 combination of Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun, both expected to strengthen Malaysia’s bid for a gold medal.
On the women’s front, 2025 World Championship silver medallists Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah will spearhead the women’s doubles challenge, supported by Go Pei Kee–Teoh Mei Xing as the secondary pair.
In the singles events, Malaysia will rely on Leong Jun Hao, currently ranked 20th in the world, and Justin Hoh (36th) to deliver in the men’s singles, while K. Letshanaa (38th) and Wong Ling Ching (70th) will fly the flag in the women’s singles.
“This team is a combination of experienced players and promising young talents who will represent Malaysia in both the team and individual events,” BAM said in its statement.
The announcement reflects BAM’s commitment to restoring Malaysia’s dominance in regional badminton. With a lineup boasting multiple world medallists and top-20 ranked players, expectations are high that the national squad will deliver gold in Bangkok this December.
