Japan national team clinch spot for Quarter-Final after beating Bahrain national team scoring 3-1 in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Quarter-Final at Al Thumama Stadium.
Japan squad displayed a dominant performance in the first half by making 7 attempts on goal compared to Bahrain who only made 2 attempts.
Japan’s wait for a first goal ended in the 31st minute when Ritsu Doan met a puck that hit the post.
Continuing the second half, Takefusa Kubo quickly punished the forgetfulness of the Bahraini defense with Japan’s second goal after VAR confirmed Kubo’s position was not offside.
Japan almost added a third goal in the 60th minute but the goal was disallowed due to the offside position of the Japanese players.
Bahrain scored the first goal through an own goal by the Japanese goalkeeper, Zion Suzuki, who failed to catch a high ball in the 64th minute.
Japan’s third goal in the 72nd minute was a result of Ayase Ueda’s goal, which successfully beat the Bahrain goalkeeper, Ebrahim Lutfalla.
At the end of the match, Japan managed to defeat Bahrain with a score of 3-1, thus ending Bahrain’s struggle in the Asian Cup.
