Ai Ogura, the Japanese rookie from Trackhouse Racing, has been disqualified from the second round of the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, the Gran Premio YPF Energía de Argentina, after being found in violation of technical regulations regarding his bike’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU).
Ogura initially impressed with a strong ride, crossing the finish line in eighth place and continuing his solid form from the opening round of the season. However, a post-race scrutineering process conducted by the race officials uncovered that his Aprilia machine, carrying the #79, had been equipped with uncertified software in its ECU—an infringement of MotoGP’s strict technical guidelines.
Following the discovery, race organizers swiftly issued a disqualification (DSQ) for Ogura, erasing his result as if he had not participated in the race. As a consequence, all riders who originally finished ninth or lower have been moved up one position in the official race classification.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of MotoGP’s rigorous enforcement of regulations, ensuring a level playing field for all competitors. While Trackhouse Racing has yet to make an official statement regarding the disqualification, the team will likely face increased scrutiny in upcoming races to avoid further infractions.
