Adib Adnan’s header from a corner kick in the 19th minute was successfully caught by Soulisak Manpaseuth before Manpaseuth again denied Muhamad Nabil Fitri’s attempt (m31).
The equalizing goal, which was also the national team’s first goal in this campaign, finally appeared in the 42nd minute after Muhamad Dainei Disa finished Muhammad Aiman Yusuf’s cross with a header to beat Soulisak Manpaseuth.
Continuing the second half, Malaysia wasted an opportunity to lead the match in the 48th minute when Raja Norfirdaus Raja M Nor’s attempt when the goal was already ‘gaping’ soared high.
The dominance of the second half by the national squad paid off after Malaysia managed to score the winning goal in the 77th minute, again through Dainei’s header from Muhammad Zainurhakimi Zain’s cross.
