The Asian Football Confederation has officially announced the postponement of the Final Draw for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, which was originally scheduled to take place on April 11, 2026, in Riyadh.
In a statement released on Thursday, the AFC confirmed that the decision was made after careful consideration, with the primary objective of ensuring the smooth and undisrupted participation of all key stakeholders.
The governing body emphasized that the integrity and inclusivity of the draw ceremony remain a top priority, particularly given the significance of the tournament as Asia’s premier international football competition.
Despite the postponement, the AFC extended its appreciation to the Local Organising Committee in Saudi Arabia, highlighting their full preparedness to host the event as originally planned.
The Confederation also thanked all Participating Member Associations, fans, and stakeholders for their understanding and continued cooperation during this adjustment.
While no revised date has been confirmed, the AFC assured that further updates regarding the new arrangements for the Final Draw will be communicated in due course.
The delay means national teams will have to wait longer to learn their group-stage opponents, potentially affecting planning and preparation timelines ahead of the 2027 tournament.
However, the AFC’s decision signals a commitment to delivering a seamless and high-quality event befitting the stature of the Asian Cup.
