Malaysia Beach Soccer National Team, edge first victory before back to home after beating Vietnam National Team scoring 3-1 in the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup 2025 Group Stage, group D at Jomtien Beach Arena, Pattaya.
The match began cautiously, with neither side able to break the deadlock in the first period. Malaysia’s Muhammad Faris Iman came closest with an acrobatic attempt, only to be denied by Vietnam goalkeeper Nguyen Anh Quang.
Vietnam also had their chances, but Mai Van Manh’s shot was superbly saved by Malaysian goalkeeper Mohamad Syujak, while Tran Kim Trung’s effort was blocked by Muhammad Akhmal.
The second period saw Mohd Saiful Noor’s men step up their attacking play. Wan Muhammad Syarif had a golden opportunity to put Malaysia ahead, but his left-footed effort drifted agonizingly wide of an unguarded net.
Malaysia finally found the breakthrough in the 21st minute, when Muhamad Hafizal (#8) slotted the ball past a sea of white shirts into the heart of the Vietnam net.
With momentum on their side, Malaysia doubled their lead in the third period through Muhammad Faris (#5), who cut inside and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot past the rooted Anh Quang.
Vietnam attempted a late fightback, reducing the deficit through Pham Truong Du (#10) two minutes before full-time, but Malaysia responded almost immediately. Hafizal struck again in the dying moments to seal an impressive 3-1 victory.
The victory ensures Malaysia ends their campaign on a positive note, despite missing out on a place in the knockout rounds.
Despite both teams having already been eliminated from the tournament, Malaysia showed great resilience and determination to claim their first win before returning home.
