Tampines Rovers, a club from Singapore made a first victory after beating Lee Man, a club from Hong Kong scoring 3-1 in the AFC Champions League Two 2024/25 Group Stage, Group G at Jalan Besar Stadium, Kallang.
Despite a fast start from the visitors, Lee Man opened the scoring within four minutes when Li capitalized on Everton Camargo’s curling free kick, bundling the ball past Syazwan Buhari. The Hong Kong side maintained their dominance early on, with Mitchel Paulissen narrowly missing the top corner and Li squandering another opportunity when he headed over the bar in the 16th minute.
However, Tampines fought back, and in the 41st minute, Taufik Suparno was brought down inside the box by Li, earning a penalty. Boris Kopitovic calmly converted from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the score.
The second half saw Tampines Rovers take control of the game. Substitute Kunori tested Lee Man’s goalkeeper Chan Ka Ho with a powerful shot that was pushed away for a corner. Rosa also forced Syazwan into action with a series of saves, but Tampines kept pressing forward.
In the 65th minute, Tampines took the lead when Kopitovic delivered a low pass from the left, allowing substitute Faris to clip the ball over the line just minutes after coming on. Despite hitting the post shortly after, Kunori eventually secured the third goal in the 75th minute with a scuffed shot that crossed the line, sealing the victory for the Singaporean side.
With this win, Tampines Rovers now have their first points in the group stage and will look to build on this performance as they continue their AFC Champions League Two campaign.
