Johor Darul Ta’zim midfielder Afiq Fazail is once again making waves across Asia after being nominated for the Best Assist Award in the AFC Champions League Elite 2024/25 season.
The Harimau Malaya star earned his nomination thanks to a sublime assist delivered during JDT’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Ulsan HD, where he set up Bergson da Silva for the third goal in the 88th minute of the match.
What made the moment even more remarkable was that Afiq had just come on a minute earlier, replacing veteran midfielder Natxo Insa, and made an immediate impact by orchestrating a beautiful goal-scoring move.
Afiq, a proud native of Pontian, Johor, is now in the running for the prestigious accolade, but he faces stiff competition from 14 other top-tier players, including high-profile stars such as Suphanat Mueanta, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Joao Cancelo.
Malaysian football fans still have a chance to support Afiq in his bid to win the award. Voting will close at 5:00 PM (Malaysian time) on June 27.
Supporters can cast their vote by accessing the official voting link provided by the AFC.
