Malaysian Moto3 sensation Hakim Danish Ramli will start the 2026 German Grand Prix from the front row after producing a brilliant late lap to secure third place in qualifying at the Sachsenring.
The AEON Credit–MT Helmets–MSi rider delivered when it mattered most, clocking a best lap of 1:24.909 in the closing three minutes of Q2.
Hakim finished just 0.029 seconds behind pole position, earning Grid 3 for Sunday’s race at one of the most demanding circuits on the MotoGP calendar.
Hakim earned direct qualification to Q2 after finishing seventh in Friday’s Practice session, allowing the 18-year-old Malaysian to avoid the pressure of Q1.
During Saturday morning’s FP2 session, Hakim focused on gathering further information, learning the circuit, and refining his race pace, and finished P23 with a best lap of 1:26.580, 1.207 seconds behind the fastest rider.
However, when qualifying arrived, Hakim immediately stepped up his performance.
In a fiercely competitive Q2 session, Hakim saved his best for the decisive final minutes.
With just three minutes remaining, the Malaysian produced a superb 1:24.909 lap to climb into P3, securing another front-row start in his impressive rookie Moto3 campaign.
The result marks the fourth time this season that Hakim Danish will start a Grand Prix from the front row.
His latest qualifying performance is even more impressive considering this is his first Moto3 World Championship appearance at the Sachsenring, the shortest circuit on the current MotoGP calendar.
Pole position went to Hakim’s fellow rookie and Rookie of the Year rival Brian Uriarte of Red Bull KTM Ajo, who set the fastest lap of 1:24.880. The incredibly tight margin means Hakim missed pole position by only 0.029 seconds.
Now, starting from the outside of the front row, the Malaysian youngster will have another major opportunity to fight at the sharp end of the field in Sunday’s German Grand Prix.
After his historic victory in the Czech Republic and a strong run of performances throughout the season, Hakim Danish continues to prove that he belongs among the leading contenders in Moto3.
