Thailand’s men’s futsal team made a confident start to their AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Group B campaign with a composed 2-0 victory over Lebanon at the Jakarta International Velodrome on January 27, 2026.
Lebanon threatened early when Mohsen Mohsen tested Natthaphong with a long-range effort in the second minute. Thailand responded quickly, with Osman Musa forcing a save from Lebanese goalkeeper Karim Joueidi in the third minute.
Thailand dominated possession and created a string of chances, with Itthicha Prapapan narrowly missing the target from a long ball in the fifth minute, while Panas Kittipanuwong and Osman Musa continued to probe the Lebanese defence.
Despite Thailand’s sustained pressure, Karim Joueidi stood firm with a series of crucial saves, ensuring the first half ended goalless at 0-0.
Thailand resumed the second half with the same attacking intent. Osmanmusa and Worasak Srirangphairot both came close before the breakthrough finally arrived in the 27th minute.
A clever move saw Therdsak Charoenphong slide the ball to Worasak, who produced a sublime backheel finish to put Thailand 1-0 ahead.
The lead was doubled in the 34th minute when Osman Musa showcased his class, skillfully controlling the ball before firing a left-footed strike into the far post to make it 2-0.
Thailand nearly added a third in the closing stages after Lebanon’s power play backfired, but Amarin Ekaphan fired just wide from close range.
The final whistle confirmed a deserved 2-0 win, handing Thailand all three points in their opening Group B fixture and underlining their intent at the continental showpiece.
Thailand will next face Kuwait in their second group match at the Jakarta International Velodrome, as they look to build momentum and strengthen their bid for a place in the knockout stages of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026.
