Malaysia’s heritage player Hector Hevel is poised to become the latest high-profile addition to Johor Darul Ta’Zim ahead of the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 season.
The development was reported earlier today by Astro Arena journalist Zulhelmi Zainal Azam, confirming that the Dutch-born midfielder will don the Southern Tigers’ jersey next season.
Hevel, 28, currently plies his trade with Portimonense SC in Portugal’s top-flight league, having joined the club earlier this year. His impending move to Malaysia signals JDT’s intent to further strengthen their midfield ranks as they continue to dominate the domestic scene and make strides in Asian competitions.
Known for his technical vision and composure in midfield, Hector Hevel brings valuable experience from European football, including previous stints in the Netherlands, Cyprus, and Portugal. His versatility and playmaking abilities are expected to be a significant asset for Esteban Solari’s squad in both Liga Super Malaysia and the AFC Champions League Two campaign.
While the transfer creates buzz in Malaysian football circles, Hevel remains fully focused on his international responsibilities. The midfielder is currently in centralised training with the Harimau Malaya as they prepare for a crucial 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier clash against Vietnam next Tuesday.
